Dear Actionmarguerite Residents and Families,

We are writing with an update regarding the respiratory virus activity at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface and Actionmarguerite St. Joseph. We will need to add 5C, 2DE and 3DE at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface to the list of declared outbreaks. Evidently, we continue to have respiratory virus activity. Influenza and colds can have serious adverse effects on residents with weakened immune systems. The outbreak measures must therefore remain in place until further notice. At Actionmarguerite St. Joseph, Influenza A is the virus we are responding to, and at Actionmarguerite Saint-Boniface, it is the common cold virus that is circulating, predominantly in the ABC tower.   Please note that there are currently no outbreaks at Actionmarguerite St. Vital.

General Visits suspended on this unit

Designated family caregivers (essential visitors) are welcome to visit at their own risk and are asked to wear the personal protective equipment provided by our staff.

During the height of the pandemic, it became common practice to report on the number of residents affected. This is not a practice that we can maintain given the ever-changing nature of these types of outbreaks. The important factor is that we do all that we can to minimize the spread of illnesses. As always, we commit to reporting on the status of outbreaks regularly.

Our teams continue to collaborate with Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) infection prevention and control to inform our response efforts.  Ongoing measures include:

  • Monitoring residents for signs of illness and responding to their care needs.
  • Increased housekeeping.
  • Increased monitoring of infection prevention and control measures such as hand hygiene and limiting the amount of movement of people on and off affected units.
  • You may be asked to wear eye protection for your own safety on outbreak units and throughout the building.

We will advise when outbreak measures are no longer required.  Please continue to check our website before you plan your visit.

With regards,

Micheline St-Hilare, Chief Executive Officer and the Actionmarguerite team
