Dear residents, families and care partners,

You may have heard the news earlier today – the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that COVID-19 no longer represents a global health emergency. Already, more than three (3) years have passed since the WHO declared the pandemic. Let that sink in! Take a moment to feel into what this means to you personally and for our community.

Earlier this week, the Province of Manitoba announced changes to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in health care settings to take effect no later than May 10, 2023.

Actionmarguerite is choosing to implement these changes effective Monday, May 8, 2023. Starting on Monday, we will be a mask-friendly environment. What does this mean?

  • After almost three (3) years, masks and eye protection will no longer be mandatory.
  • Actionmarguerite employees will be provided with refresher education on routine practices and point of care risk assessments regarding the use of PPE in specific situations.
  • We will continue to ensure PPE is available for employees and visitors who choose to wear a mask. Each one of us has our own perspective and risk tolerance and we must continue to respect each other’s choices to wear a mask or not.
  • Physical distancing will no longer be required.
  • Updated mask-friendly signage will be placed throughout Actionmarguerite.
  • Hand sanitizer and masks will continue to be available at entrances.
  • Let’s maintain our diligent hand hygiene practices as we all know that Clean Hands Save Lives!

You are invited to send a message to info@actionmarguerite.ca should you have any questions.

We ask for your continued understanding and support as we adjust to these changes.  We don’t yet know what the next respiratory season will bring this Fall. We know that it may be necessary to re-implement some of these measures for everyone’s safety.  In the meantime, let us enjoy!  It will be good for all to see everyone’s smiling, happy faces.

Well wishes sent your way,

Carol Styles
