Dear Actionmarguerite Residents and Families,
We are writing to share with you that we discovered earlier today that the urgent repair of a gas line at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface (185 Despins) is required. This means that we have had to shut the line providing natural gas to our kitchen and laundry areas. We do not yet know when the repairs will be completed. We also wanted to reassure you that we have put our contingency plans in place to navigate this situation. These plans include:
Food Services
Our food services team have made the necessary changes to their menu to ensure there is no disruption in the meals that will be served to residents. You may notice more cold food options for the time being as our capacity to heat food is limited given that our ovens are gas powered.
Laundry Services
Because our dryers are gas powered, we have made alternate arrangements to dry laundry.
Parking
Over the coming days, we will have contractors onsite completing the repairs. They will need to use some visitor parking stalls to more easily reach the affected gas line. You may notice limited visitor parking. To ensure there are parking options for visitors, we have arranged with the City of Winnipeg to lift parking restrictions on nearby streets. Parking restrictions have been lifted from today, October 20 to October 24 inclusive on Despins, Valade, Jeanne d’Arc, and Louis Riel Street. Should the repair work last longer, we will see if we can extend this arrangement. Please ensure that our accessible parking stalls remain available for those who need them.
Should you have any questions, please write to info@actionmarguerite.ca.
We continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you informed of further developments.
Thank you in advance for your patience and collaboration!
Sincerely,
Micheline St-Hilaire
Chief Executive Officer
