Dear Actionmarguerite Residents & Families,
In re-imagining our volunteer program, we have identified a volunteer who is interested in playing the harp at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface. The spiritual care team is therefore delighted to welcome Sr. Jeannine Vermette as a volunteer-harpist.
She will begin this music support service entitled “En harmonie avec le rythme de la vie | In tune with the Rhythm of Life“. Residents and their families are invited to participate in a personalized music session offered by Sr. Jeaninne. She says she is inspired by the book “Music at end of life: Easing the pain, preparing the passage”. She has also recently completed the “Compassionate Care” course with Palliative Manitoba, which prepares her well to offer these sessions. Research shows that this accompaniment, complementary to care, has many benefits, such as :
- Bringing about relaxation in the body and easing tension and anxiety
- Encouraging shared moments between a person at the end of life and their family
- Helping caregivers with their work or their own emotions
- Bringing comfort particularly for those near or at end of life.
To benefit from a personalized music support session with Sr. Jeannine, you can reach out to us or sign-up with resident initials and room number on the sign-up sheet located in the entrance of the Chapel.
Sr. Jeannine is planning on being available as follows, depending on the demand:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday: between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: between 2 pm and 5 pm
Should you have any questions about these sessions, please feel free to reach one of us at 204-233-3692, ext. 547.
Please feel free to share this news widely and encourage participation in these sessions.
The Actionmarguerite Team
