Dear Actionmarguerite Families,

COVID-19 Update #4 – January 5, 2022 – Actionmarguerite St. Boniface, Actionmarguerite St. Joseph, Actionmarguerite St. Vital

Today, we are writing with the following update:

Actionmarguerite St. Boniface

  • 3 floors are now on outbreak* (2ABC, 4AB, 4C, 5AB, 5C)
  • An additional five (5) residents have tested positive for COVID-19 bringing our total to 17 residents

 Actionmarguerite St. Vital

  • 1 unit has a declared outbreak (3rd floor)
  • Four (4) additional residents have tested positive for a total of eight (8) residents

 Actionmarguerite St. Joseph

  • 1 unit has a declared outbreak (1st floor)
  • An additional resident has tested positive for a total of two (2) residents

*N.B. For an outbreak to be declared there must be two cases that are linked together. This can include any combination of staff, visitors, and residents.

As we continue to manage and apply all possible measures to limit the spread of the virus, we are not yet able to welcome back family members who have indicated their interest in assisting us at this time. We are continuously assessing the risks involved. When it is safer to proceed, we will reach out to you. Rest assured that we are working on finding a balanced way of welcoming you back as we recognize the importance of family presence on everyone’s health and wellbeing, especially that of the people we support.

The number of staff who are testing positive for COVID-19 continues to rise, yet we are pleased to announce that some staff are now recovered and are returning to work.  Our care and support teams are working tirelessly to ensure that the quality of care and services are maintained. Staffing challenges are managed through assigning overtime shifts, hiring agency nurses, and reassigning Actionmarguerite staff from all departments to where the needs are greatest. We have also learned that nursing students will be able to return, and a few part-time and retired health care workers have offered their services.

Virtual family forums are a way to support our residents and families during this time. We will be holding the following virtual family forums:

  • Actionmarguerite St. Joseph – Thursday, January 6 at 3 pm
  • Actionmarguerite St. Boniface and St. Vital – Thursday, January 6 at 4:30 pm

Families wishing to participate are asked to email lsardo@actionmarguerite.ca for the meeting link / phone number.

Please do not hesitate to reach us at info@actionmarguerite.ca.

May our collective efforts see us through these times with compassion and courage.

Micheline St-Hilaire, Chief Executive Officer & the entire Actionmarguerite Team
