Dear Actionmarguerite Families,

We have heard from several families just how much these updates are important and continue to be of benefit. It is our intention to send them regularly knowing that they serve.

In today’s update, we are saddened to announce that a resident has died related to the outbreak at Actionmarguerite St. Vital. Our sincere condolences have been offered to family members in their time of grief.

Outbreak Status

Actionmarguerite St. Vital – Unité Marguerite (a specialized and secured unit located on the 1st floor for persons living with dementia)

  • The outbreak is declared for both the 1400 (green) and 1500 (pink) wings.
  • One (1) death has been linked to this outbreak.
  • Six (6) residents are deemed recovered.
  • One (1) additional resident has tested positive for a total of 21 active cases.
  • Seven (7) staff members have tested positive; and all of them are recovered.
  • Visits (essential and general) are suspended until further notice for Unité Marguerite.

Actionmarguerite St. Joseph

  • We communicated earlier this week with Actionmarguerite St. Joseph families regarding an outbreak as a result of two (2) residents testing positive for COVID-19.
  • We are relieved to report that this outbreak is resolved as the second resident was deemed to be recovered from a previous infection.
  • General visits can resume as of March 11, 2022.  As a reminder, both essential and general visitors who are unvaccinated are welcome to visit in the visitation shelter.

Proof of vaccination continues

Actionmarguerite will maintain the proof of vaccination requirement until at least April 22. It is our understanding that the Province’s vaccination verification system will remain available in Manitoba for the time being. We believe this will give us sufficient time to evaluate the effects of loosening restrictions in the community and its impacts on long-term care settings. Our phased approach requires us to discern a way forward to best protect the people we support, their families and members of our workforce.

A reminder that our visiting shelters are available to both vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors. Please book your appointments through our reservations team:

As we continue the discernment process, we invite residents and families to continue sharing their reflections on these important matters with the Actionmarguerite team by writing to info@actionmarguerite.ca.

The use of medical masks and eye protection will also be maintained at Actionmarguerite following the lifting of the mask mandate for the public on March 15th.

March is both Nutrition and Social Work month. We are honoured to have dieticians and social workers contribute to the wellbeing of the people we support. We invite you to join us in acknowledging them and sharing how their presence matters!

As always, please email info@actionmarguerite.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

With warm regards,

Micheline St-Hilaire, Chief Executive Officer & the entire Actionmarguerite Team
