The Supervisor of Food Services is a key contributor for ensuring the people we serve have the best possible meal experience, including the tangible and intangible elements of the resident meal experience. The Supervisor, plans, organizes and directs dietary operations including but not limited to: food service and standards, quality control, supplies, safety and sanitation as established by the City of Winnipeg Environmental Health. The Supervisor works with human resources regarding staffing and resource issues.
The Supervisor also performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal, protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers, or any others who enter the premises.

Shift and Hours of Work: 1.0FTE – full-time – days, currently 09:00 – 17:15
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale
Specifications: This position provides services to our multiple sites. The primary location will be at Actionmarguerite St.Vital at 450 River. Assignment and hours of work are subject to change at any time as per operational requirements.

Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of an approved Food Services Supervisor’s course or equivalent;
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the supervision of food services in a health care setting;
- Experience in the use of personal computers in a Windows environment;
- Experience and / or interest in gerontology is an asset;
- Experience with job interviews, performance appraisals, scheduling and delegation of work, budget control and quality assurance; and
- Valid Food Handling Certificate.
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to communicate in both official languages (French and English) is required;
- Knowledge in general office procedures including, filing, photocopying, record keeping and data entry;
- Ability to understand Dietetic terminology;
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks within predetermined time frames, with minimum supervision;
- Ability to supervise and communicate directions effectively to staff;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other disciplines, residents and external agencies;
- Ability to perform effectively as a team leader;
- Ability to adapt readily to a changing environment and respond with initiative and an ability to prioritize activities;
- Ability to retain information on a confidential basis;
- Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records is essential;
- Must be in good physical and mental health;
- Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance; and
- Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
Knowledge:
Demonstrates knowledge and support of:
- Dietetics, administration, budgeting and the operation of a food services department in a long term care or health care setting;
- Purchasing procedures, product specifications, quality improvement programs;
- Mathematics for recipe calculations and budgeting;
- Actionmarguerite’s Vision, Mission and Values and Resident Bill of Rights, policies and procedures;
- Collective Agreements;
- Workplace Health and Safety and work practices; and
- W.H.M.I.S. program.
This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
