The Dietary Services Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions, which includes inputting data and maintaining the computerized dietary system current, completes food orders, takes inventory of stock in the kitchen with assistance from the Kitchen Cleaner/Receiver, assists with controlling food and supply costs, records and processes invoices from suppliers and performs other related functions.  The Dietary Services Clerk demonstrates a commitment to the vision, mission and values of Actionmarguerite.

Pay Scale: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate program from a University or Community College program in Food and Nutrition or equivalent recommended;
  • Diet technician course recommended;
  • Valid Food Handling Certificate;
  • Experience in quantity food preparation and institutional food services, an asset;
  • Previous nutrition and clerical experience required;
  • Proven computer experience (MS Office, Excel, email, internet and web-purchasing ordering) required; and
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Dietary software.

Abilities and Skills:                                                            

  • Ability to communicate in both official languages (French and English) is required;
  • Knowledge in general office procedures including filing, photocopying, record keeping and data entry;
  • Ability to understand Dietetic terminology;
  • Demonstrated understanding of portion control, therapeutic diets and texture modifications is essential;
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks within predetermined time frames, with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to perform effectively as a team member;
  • Must be able to retain information on a confidential basis;
  • Possess good interpersonal and written communication skills to work with residents, staff and business partners;
  • Initiative and judgment to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records, is essential;
  • Must be in good physical and mental health;
  • Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance; and
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.

This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
