Planned or Legacy Giving

Planned giving refers to any gift you arrange now that will be received by Actionmarguerite Foundation in the future. These meaningful contributions allow you to make a lasting impact while ensuring your financial needs are met today. Including Actionmarguerite Foundation in your long-term plans is a powerful way to reflect your values, support compassionate and person-directed care, and create a legacy you can be proud of.

Planned gifts often allow donors to make a larger, more transformative contribution than might be possible during their lifetime. Many options also offer tax advantages, helping reduce the tax burden on your estate while supporting the people and causes you care about.

Will Donations (Bequests)

Leaving a gift in your will (a bequest) is the most common form of planned giving. This type of giving is a generous and lasting way to honour your care, compassion, and commitment to Actionmarguerite Foundation. A bequest ensures that your values live on, supporting residents and advancing person-directed living well into the future. Your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt, which can help offset estate taxes and capital gains.

Click the expandable items below for sample wording you may find helpful:

For a residual bequest, you can include this language in your will:

“I give and devise to Fondation Actionmarguerite Foundation Inc. (Charitable Registration Number 890150592RR0001), located at 185 Despins Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3, all (or state a percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific priority or program).”

For a specific gift amount, you can include this language in your will:

“I give and devise to Fondation Actionmarguerite Foundation Inc. (Charitable Registration Number 890150592RR0001), located at 185 Despins Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3, the sum of $__________ (or a specific asset) to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific priority or program).”

For a contingent gift:

Fondation Actionmarguerite Foundation Inc. can be named as a contingent beneficiary in your will or personal trust if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled:

“If (insert name) is not living at the time of my demise, I give and devise to Fondation Actionmarguerite Foundation Inc. (Charitable Registration Number 890150592RR0001), located at 185 Despins Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3, the sum of $__________ (or all or a percentage of the residue of my estate) to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific priority or program).”

Commemorations and In-Memory Gifts

Commemorations at Actionmarguerite offer a meaningful way to honour someone special. These gifts may take the form of a memorial donation or the creation of a named trust fund established in tribute to an individual. Making a donation in memory or in honour of a friend, family member, or loved one is a heartfelt way to celebrate their life and legacy. When you make a tribute gift, Actionmarguerite will send a card to the individual or family being honoured, acknowledging your thoughtful contribution. The amount of your donation will remain confidential unless you request otherwise.

To help us share your message, we invite you to provide:

  • The recipient’s name
  • Their mailing address
  • Any personalized note you would like included

Your commemorative gift creates a lasting impact that both honours someone meaningful to you and enhances the lives of the people we support.

Donating Equipment or Items

We are grateful for the generosity of community and family members who wish to donate wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment or supplies. To ensure every donation is safe, appropriate and truly beneficial, we follow a simple review and approval process.

How the donation process works:

  1. Send us information about the item:

Before any donation is accepted, please contact our administrative office at marguerite@actionmarguerite.ca with details about the item you wish to donate. Photos, and a brief description of its condition are very helpful.

  2. Internal Review and Need Assessment:

Once we receive your information, we will consult with the appropriate department to determine whether the item meets a current need. This helps ensure that donations directly support resident comfort, independence, and person-directed living.

  3. Safety, Condition, and Value Assessment:

If the item is needed, we will confirm that it meets our safety, accessibility, and quality standards. Items must be clean, in good working condition, and suitable for resident use. When required, we will also secure an assessment of the item’s fair market value for receipting purposes.

  4. Arrange a Drop-Off Time:

After approval, we will work with you to schedule a convenient drop-off time. Please note that we cannot accept any items without prior approval.

  5. Charitable Tax Receipt:

Once the item has been received and its value confirmed, we will issue a charitable tax receipt to acknowledge your generous contribution.

In-Kind Gifts

We are fortunate to be surrounded by generous and talented individuals who want to share what they can. Contributions of goods or services, such as professional expertise, furniture, or prizes for fundraising events make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we support. Your in-kind gifts help enhance comfort, dignity, and quality of life throughout our community.

Hosting a Fundraiser

Planning a milestone birthday, hosting a golf tournament, or even organizing a simple lemonade stand can become a meaningful way to give back. Consider donating the proceeds or inviting your guests to contribute to the Actionmarguerite Foundation. Your creativity and generosity help enhance the lives of those we support in truly impactful ways.

Once your funds are raised, click here or contact the Foundation at 204-233-3692 poste/ext. 589 or marguerite@actionmarguerite.ca to make your donation.

Event Ticket or Admission Pass Donations

Treat a member of the Actionmarguerite community to a special experience! Event tickets and admission passes offer moments of joy, connection, and community belonging for residents, families, and volunteers. These outings help strengthen community ties and support our commitment to person-directed living. We gratefully accept donated tickets to local sporting, cultural, entertainment, and community events.

If you are a season ticket holder and have seats you won’t be using, donating them is a wonderful way to ensure they don’t go unused. Your tickets can become a memorable outing for a resident or a meaningful way to recognize the dedicated volunteers who support our programs.

How to donate tickets:

    1. Contact Us

Please reach out to the Foundation at 204-233-3692 poste/ext. 589 or marguerite@actionmarguerite.ca with:
      • the type of tickets
      • number of tickets available
      • the date and time of the event
      • any accessibility or seating details
    2. Coordination and Planning

Once we receive your information, we will determine how best to use the tickets and coordinate the logistics needed to make the outing possible. Please note that attending events often requires additional supports, such as transportation and a companion for the resident.
    3. Confirmation

We will confirm acceptance of the tickets and arrange the details with you directly. Thank you for helping enrich the daily lives of residents and volunteers.
