We will be restarting our Essential Visitor program at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface on Friday, September 25th 2020. Essential Visitors will be able to visit their family member from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday. The 5ABC unit will remain closed to Essential Visitors until October 8th, 2020. We are required to go two infection periods without a COVID-19 case before we are able to resume visits on this unit.
The facility’s status will remain as “Critical – Red Zone” per the provincial response protocol for COVID-19, and until such a time that public health declares the outbreak over. We have not had additional COVID-19 cases since September 11th, 2020 and we hope to declare the outbreak over after October 8th 2020. It is important to note, however, that any COVID-19 case will require that we reverse our decisions and suspend visits again. Essential Visitors are reminded to follow all the visit guidelines : https://www.actionmarguerite.ca/welcome-back-wear-your-mask/.
We ask that visitors NOT to arrive or leave between 2:45 and 3:45 pm to avoid congestion and enable us to actively screen our staff during the change of shift. Please do not visit if you are not feeling well.
Scheduled Outdoor/Indoor Visitation will remain unavailable
The scheduled outdoor / indoor visitation program (for non-essential care givers) will remain closed until further notice. We are in the process of installing the Fall / Winter Visitation Shelters provided by the Province of Manitoba to enable visitation to continue in long term care. The shelter at 185 Despins will arrive on September 25th 2020. We anticipate that the ‘hook up’ to the building as well as set up of the furnishings may take up to two weeks. We will have two shelters located in the same courtyard area as the outdoor visits (https://news.gov.mb.ca/news/?archive=&item=49225https://news.gov.mb.ca/news/?. Similar shelters will be installed at 450 River Road and 1149 Leila Avenue in the near future. Further communication will be sent to families at that time.
Window / Virtual Visits
Window and Virtual Visits continue to be an option in the interim. Window visits are not available to residents on 5ABC, as they remain confined to their units. When possible, virtual visits remain alternatives for some residents and families.
We appreciate the support of residents, families and staff in our efforts to keep everyone safe. The number of active cases in Winnipeg is increasing in personal care homes and in the community. Our goal remains to keep everyone safe; all while understanding that this is difficult for residents, staff and families.
