The following is update #11 on the current COVID-19 resident outbreak at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface, 185 Despins.
We are saddened to announce the 2nd death of a resident. Our hearts go out to the resident’s family, friends and care givers. Our deepest condolences to all during the very difficult time.
The total number of residents in the COVID-19 area remains at ten residents (10). Thirteen (13) residents have recovered and returned to their units. Recovered residents are deemed to be no longer infectious following a medical assessment and in accordance to the public health guidelines.
We have had two (2) COVID related deaths since the start of the outbreak.
Our total number of COVID-19 cases remain at 25.
We have started to prepare our recovery plan, hoping that we are containing the spread of the virus. This includes more asymptomatic testing of residents, supporting the residents who are recovering from COVID-19, as well as gradually re-opening to in room visits by Essential Care Givers.
We will be holding our 2nd virtual town hall meeting with families of Actionmarguerite St. Boniface on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 4 PM to go over this plan.
Families are required to reply by email (email@example.com) before 10AM Monday, and provide their names, the name of the resident and the unit. We will then send the meeting instructions and phone number by email by approximately 1PM the same day.
Essential Care Giver Visits :
We are planning to gradually re-open to Essential Care Giver visits. We have to do this safely and progressively in order to limit the number of visitors at any one time.
Subject to no new cases, we are planning to re-open to essential care givers as follows:
- Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 – Essential Care Givers of residents on 2ABC and 4ABC
- Wednesday, March 10, 2021 – Essential Care Givers of residents on 3ABC and 5ABC
- Thursday, March 11th 2021 – Essential Care Givers of residents 2DE and 4DE
Please resume essential care giver visits starting only on those dates.
PLEASE remember that the entire facility is considered RED – Critical. Essential Care Giver visitors must also accept total responsibility and follow all infection control and PPE requirements. They also need to be aware that they are entering a facility / unit that is in a COVID-19 outbreak status.
The re-opening of 3DE to essential care givers will be determined based on resident need and require additional precautions required. More information will be provided during the virtual meeting.
Visits continue to be limited to one essential care giver visit per day. Essential Care Giver should NOT visit if they are not feeling well or who have been exposed to any contact risk.
Exceptions continue to be considered for end of live situations.
Shelter Visits :
Shelter visits will resume on March 9th for residents on the ABC Tower only. Shelter visits can be scheduled, starting next Tuesday, between 1PM and 7PM every day of the week.
