The Accounting Officer is responsible in the co-ordination and maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers; monthly preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and other related accounting functions.  The Accounting Officer reports to the Finance Manager and will work closely with other members of the Finance team as well as managers within the organization, residents and family members. The incumbent will provide services to all Actionmarguerite sites and applicable financial services contracts.

Shift and Hours of Work:  1.00 FTE – term, full-time, days, currently 08:15 – 16:30.
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) or a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a specialization in accounting and/or enrollment into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) and/or an equivalent combination of formal education and related experience;
  • Minimum two years public sector accounting experience, preferably in a health environment;
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of financial statements and analysis; and
  • High comfort level with technology and solid working knowledge of Excel and Great Plains Dynamics.

  • Ability to communicate, verbal and written in both official languages (French and English) is required;

This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
