The Honourable Candice Bergen, Minister of State for Social Development, visited Actionmarguerite (Saint-Vital) today to announce investments in projects to improve access for Canadians with disabilities through the Enabling Accessibility Fund. Action Marguerite has been approved to receive $35,000 in EAF funding for a $100,000 project to extend and improve a walkway, courtyard, picnic and gathering areas that will greatly enhance accessibility and safety for all Actionmarguerite residents.

“This new accessible green space will allow a greater number of residents to enjoy beautiful summer days like today,” said Actionmarguerite board Chair, Louis Druwé. “They will also benefit from enhanced outdoor programming: from concerts and pet visits to gardening and outdoor games. This means better quality of life for our residents.”

With additional support from the Winnipeg Foundation, Actionmarguerite Foundation and the City of Winnipeg, the project’s funding now totals $60,000. A fundraising campaign will begin shortly to find the remaining $40,000. Construction is set to start later this summer.
