The following is the schedule for Essential Caregivers during Christmas and New Year at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface, 185 Despins; at Actionmarguerite St. Vital, 450 River Road and at Actionmarguerite St. Joseph, 1149 Leila Ave.
This schedule may change at any of the above facilities if there are new COVID-19 cases / outbreaks and visitation needs to be suspended in order to keep residents, staff and essential care givers safe.
Essential Caregiver Visitation Hours:
Effective Monday, December 21, 2020, one essential caregiver per resident, per day, will be able to visit, in the resident’s room, between 11AM and 2PM, including Saturdays and Sundays.
All screening and personal protective equipment requirements will continue to apply (essential caregivers will be required to wear a medical mask and glasses that we provide). We ask that Essential Caregivers not visit if they are not well or if they have been at risk of exposure in the community, at work or during the holidays. Please follow provincial public health orders under CODE RED, in place until January 8th 2021. Province of Manitoba | Pandemic Response System
Christmas Day, Boxing Day and News Years Day
One essential care giver per resident, per day, will be able to visit between 10AM and 4PM on December 25th, 2020, December 26, 2020 and January 1, 2021. Please do not arrive or depart during the afternoon shift change (between 2:30PM and 3:30PM)
No general visitation will be allowed at this time as directed by Public Health.
Short Term/ Same Day Resident Absences
Some residents and families have asked if it will be possible for residents to leave the home for a short term absence. Short Term or same day resident absences are STRONGLY discouraged for the following reasons:
- Short Term / Same Day Resident Absences contravene the public health order.
- Short Term / Same Day Resident Absences would expose residents and staff to greater risk during the pandemic.
- Short Term / Same Day Resident Absences would require residents to be isolated in their rooms for 14 days afterwards, including at mealtime. This may contribute to social isolation and require additional staff resources to ensure compliance.
Please note that the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Social Leave Policy still applies and requires approval from the WRHA Long Term Care Access Center (allowing a resident to be safely discharged from the home for 21 days without giving up the room). All social leaves would require a minimum of 14 days absence from the home and 14 days of isolation and an asymptomatic test result upon return. For all absences please contact the Social Worker prior to December 23rd 2020.
As communicated on December 11, 2020 (Holiday Gifts, Food and Decorations | Actionmarguerite) we ask that you not bring any food or gifts for staff during your visit. Essential Caregivers can bring food for their loved one only in a package that can be sanitized. Essential Caregivers cannot remove their mask or share food at any time during their visit.
We all know Christmas and the Holidays will be different this year. We ask all families and staff to be kind and understanding as we get through the next few months safely and without taking risks. We wish and hope that, early in 2021, the residents and staff will benefit from the receiving the vaccine. More information on the vaccine will be forthcoming when available.
Please be safe and enjoy the holidays. Do not hesitate to write to us at email@example.com
